Anchor Iron Co. was started in 1953 by R.G. (Bob) Roberts and operated out of his home and barn in Bloomington. Early work was primarily the sales and installation of clothes posts and some installation of wrought iron railings. His son Jim started in the business early, helping to install clothes posts. In 1958, property was purchased and a building constructed in Savage for the purpose of manufacturing wrought iron railings.
In the mid 1960s a small gift shoppe was added to retail wrought iron and cast iron gift and decorative items. The gift shop grew and expanded in the years following. A complete line of fireplace equipment - glass enclosures, screens, and accessories - was added in the early ‘70s, followed by a line of Cairn Studio collectibles and framed art in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. The name, The Country Gallery, was added to the business in the early ‘80s to reflect the addition of the art and custom framing. In 1999 the gallery and showroom was remodeled and the gallery name was changed to Eagle Creek Gallery. Today, the third generation is involved in the business.
Son Mark works full time in iron sales and manages the showroom, son Matt full time in the manufacturing of the iron, and son Adam full time as the business manager. We are in the early stages of employing the fourth generation and are very proud that we have been able to serve our customers for over 55 years and look forward to what the future holds for Anchor Iron Company and Eagle Creek Gallery.
